Memorabilia of Sting and The Police is wanted to feature in a new exhibition in Wallsend - the home town of the celebrated singer.

Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum is calling on the people of the north east to lend their memorabilia for a new exhibition which includes a unique photograph of Sting from the National Portrait Gallery.

Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend will be displaying a photographic portrait of Sting by the renowned celebrity photographer, Terry O'Neill, from March 29 until May 26.

The display will form part of North Face - Photographs from the National Portrait Gallery, a unique region-wide project showing ten portraits of North Eastern celebrities simultaneously at ten different cultural venues.

Geoff Woodward manager of North Tyneside Museums said: "We have a fantastic image of Sting from the National Portrait Gallery on display and we want to support this with an exhibition of Sting and The Police memorabilia from people in the region.

"We hope that people will come forward with items such as concert tickets, posters, magazines, badges and t-shirts that they are prepared to lend us for the duration of the exhibition."

The images in the North Face exhibition are all on show simultaneously in ten different cultural venues across north east England and includes portraits of comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer on show at the Dorman Museum in Middlesbrough, comedy actor Rowan Atkinson at Berwick Borough Museum and football legend Jack Charlton at Hexham Old Gaol.

If you have anything that you think would be suitable which you can loan for the duration of the exhibition contact Anji Spoors at Segedunum on (0191) 236 9347.
